Somerville to organize jazz festival

Several talented jazz groups will attend a festival in September at the Somerset County Historic Courthouse Green in Somerville.

The Central Jersey Jazz Fest is an event organized by Downtown Somerville Alliance where people can watch live jazz performances. The lineup for this year's music festival will include the Dizzy Gillespie Afro-Latin Experience, the Curtis Lundy Umoja Ensemble, and the Lezlie Harrison Quartet. There will also be additional performances by Jazz for Teens. Cities that host similar music fests to this may use banner printing services to advertise their concerts to more consumers.

The Dizzy Gillespie Afro-Latin Experience is a high-energy group of New York-based musicians who regularly perform with the Dizzy Gillespie Big Band and All-Star groups. The band's size can range from sextet to octet. The Curtis Lundy Umoja Ensemble is led by Curtis Lundy, a bassist, composer, and choir director who trained at the University of Miami. Lezlie Harrison is a jazz, blues, and soul vocalist who works with the Jazz radio station WBGO.

The jazz-themed music festival will take place on Sunday, September 8th. There is no cost to enjoy the jazz concerts, and guests don't need to register to attend the fest. The program will be held rain or shine. The festival will begin at 1:30 pm with an opening performance from the Lezlie Harrison Quartet and will last until 6:00 pm.
