The Somerville Downtown Alliance will organize a movie series throughout July where families can enjoy the big screen.
The Starlit Cinema Outdoor Movie Series is a seasonal program where people can watch blockbuster films together in a family-friendly environment. The summer movie series will include films like Wish and Barbie. The shows will be projected onto large screens, and the venue has a high-quality sound system to ensure audience members will hear the movies. Attendees will be able to bring food to the Starlit Cinema.
The Somerville Downtown Alliance is a group that wishes to revitalize the city’s commercial district. The organization is comprised of five committees, including the Public Art Committee, the Marketing Committee, and the Recruitment & Retention Committee. The current chairman of the group’s board of trustees is Chas Stevens. Some landmarks in Somerville’s downtown district include the Historic Courthouse & Green and the Somerville Borough Hall.
The outdoor movie viewing series will be held on Thursdays July 11,18, and 25. Each session will begin at 7:00 pm. There is no cost or pre-registration required to view the blockbusters. Each movie will be screened on Division Street. People who use the metered parking on the street can pay $1 per hour for up to three hours. City organizations in charge of similar activities can promote their events to consumers with banner printing services.
