The Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville will be teaching a mental health class in February.
Those interested in learning how to assist children in crisis and non-crisis situations can attend a class led by a certified mental health first aid instructor. The topics covered in the lesson include depression, anxiety, substance use, and disruptive behavior disorders. The course will consist of a two-hour online segment for students to complete on their own and a live lesson taught by Gail Schoenbach. The program is offered in collaboration with EmPoWER Somerset.
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset is a medical facility that opened in 1899. The hospital offers several important services, including rehabilitation programs and surgical procedures. The facility is also home to the Edward and Anita Hogan Neuroscience Pavilion and Center for Wound Healing. The organization is the first hospital in New Jersey to offer specialized services for members of the LGBTQIA community.
The Youth Mental Health First Aid Training lesson will be held on February 2 and 3 from 9:00 am to noon. There is no fee for people to register for the course, and registration will close to the public on January 6, 2022. Those interested in being certified must attend both live Zoom sessions. Medical programs like this can be promoted to potential students by using poster printing.
