The Somerville branch of the Somerset County Library System will hold a series of viewing parties throughout January.
And the Winner Is… is a program where attendees can watch award-winning documentaries on various subjects. The event will occur each week in January.
The first two films in the series will be I Am Big Bird: The Life and Career of Puppet Performer Caroll Spinney, and Life, Animated: An Autistic Young Man Finds His Voice Though Disney Films. The documentary about Caroll Spinney won an award at the Philadelphia Film Festival, and the second film earned an award at the San Francisco International Film Festival.
The other two documentaries in the series are Dig!, and Dior and I: Inside the World of the Christian Dior Fashion House. The first movie is about two bands named The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Dandy Warhols. The documentary won an award at the Sundance Film Festival. The final documentary in the library's lineup is about the fashion world and showcases Raf Simons' first haute couture collection. This film was an award winner at the Seattle International Film Festival.
The program on award-winning documentaries will take place every Wednesday from January 8 to January 29. These movies are for adults only. No registration is required, though seating will be given to the first guests to arrive. Libraries in charge of viewing parties like this may use flyer printing to share details about their activities.
