Somerville gets creative at arts and crafts fest

The Somerville Business and Professional Organization and JC Promotions, Inc. are putting together the 3rd Annual Arts and Crafts Fest. The event celebrates local artisans while offering music and dining opportunities.

The festival is juried, meaning that all goods being offered in the more than 100 tents and booths set up in downtown Somerville have been verified as completely original works. Jewelry, paintings, ceramics, sculptures, metalwork, embroidery, and textiles will be sold at the event, all locally made by residents of the tristate area. All of this will be set against the backdrop of the city’s thriving shopping district, so there will be the chance for visitors to pick up some items along the way.

Many of the restaurants in downtown will be offering open-air seating on the day of the event. Additionally, a stage will be set up with performances running throughout the day by three local acts: Leanne Weise, the Echos, and Soundbyte.

The fest is being produced by JC Promotions, Inc., a group that runs a number of community events in the area, and will no doubt be promoted with the help of flyer and brochure printing companies.

The Arts and Crafts Fest will be held this Sunday, April 24, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at 5 E. Main St. in Somerville. Admission is free, though prices for arts, crafts, and food are set by the businesses and vendors themselves. Anyone interested in attending should check the website for more info.
