Residents in the Somerville area are looking forward to the Somerville Starlit Cinema movie series. The event allows visitors to come together as a community while enjoying a free, family-friendly film.
The six-week series was put together by the Somerville Downtown Alliance and is expected to draw more than 3,000 people. The films are shown on a giant outdoor screen and a state of the art sound system. This allows for watchers both near and far to have a good view of the action as they enjoy clear dialogue and sound effects. The movies will be set up in the heart of downtown. Some seating will be provided, but there is also room for attendees to set up collapsible chairs of their own.
The films being shown are all approved for all audiences, including classics, comedies, and family movies. The movies will actually be chosen by Somerville residents themselves, who will have the chance to vote from a list, with the top six being shown this summer. Additionally, some restaurants will offer ad specialties with discounts to encourage visitors to stop for a bite before the film.
The Somerville Starlit Cinema movie series will take place every Thursday from July 14 to August 18 at 8:30 p.m. in Downtown Somerville’s Division Street Plaza. The movies are free to the public. Anyone interested in more info should visit the website.
