Somerville bar rated number one in New Jersey

The Verve Restaurant, Bar & Bistro in Somerville has been selected by a well-known food critic in New Jersey as the best bar in the state, after he reviewed all the online votes and made personal visits to the finalists.

Peter Genovese searches the state for the best cheesecakes, pizzas, and cheese steaks, among other menu items, and admits he always finds it a challenge to select a winner in the state’s best showdowns. There are so many types of bars, including craft beer bars, wine bars, and neighborhood bar, to give a few examples, he said, but Verve emerged from the others for its convivial atmosphere, inventive cocktails, high-quality bartenders, and food that surpassed any other restaurant in the area.

Announcements of such achievements can be made known to the community through banner printing services, and added to Letterheads.

The executive director of the Downtown Somerville Alliance, Natalie Pineiro, expressed her support for Verve and its owner, Rick St. Pierre. She added that improvements often take time in a downtown district, but that St. Pierre’s ingenuity and initiatives have helped to connect people with the downtown area to create a unique dining and shopping experience.

A resident of the town, St. Pierre lives with his wife on the top floor of the building that houses the restaurant. St. Pierre also serves on the board of Arts on Division and the founder of the Central Jersey Jazz Festival.
