A new Girls Lacrosse coach has been named at Immaculata High School in Somerville.

Alexandra DeGaris of Hillsborough recently graduated from Rowan University, and did so from Hillsborough High School in 2015 where she was an outstanding player. She was a coach for two summers at Ultimate Lacrosse and holds two degrees – one in Liberal Arts and the other in Education – with a certification to teach students with disabilities.

DeGaris said that she had received scholarships from other colleges but knew that Rowan was the place for her. She felt that way when she came to Immaculata and wants to enable her girls to have that same reaction, and to feel part of a family both on and off the field.

Schools such as this one can look to banner printing companies for creating displays to post in their communities, so residents learn more about such appointments.

Tom Gambino, Athletic Director at Immaculata, commented that Coach DeGaris is an ideal leader for the sport. She loves girls’ lacrosse, knows what is needed to be successful as a college athlete, and views coaching as an extension of her teaching profession. He adds that she will serve as an excellent role model as she also knows how to balance academics and athletics at the college level.

Gambino stressed his belief that DeGaris will bring the team to a level whereit will be competing for conference titles and championships.
