The 2021 Juneteenth Arts Festival is coming to Union, a short distance from Somerville. The event celebrates the extraordinary contributions African-Americans have made to the history, culture and art in America.
The festival is the oldest commemorative event known observing the emancipation of enslaved people in the country which took place in 1865. Juneteenth celebrates freedom, education and achievements made by African Americans.
A goal of the event is for everyone to reflect on the journey to freedom and all of the positive influences included. A collective and concerted focus is placed on unity and a bright future.
A full range of vendors and exhibitors will be onsite to offer art, crafts, clothing, hair care, ethnic clothing and accessories, and organic products. Service vendors will all be participating including art studios, legal advisors, salons, travel and transportation providers and more. Food vendors will offer tasty temptations including ethnic and soul food along with desserts.
