As part of the Earth Day celebrations, people are being invited to come out and keep their community clean by assisting in picking up debris and litter in designated areas.
The organizers of the Annual Earth Day Clean-up might have used poster printing to promote this community event to people in Somerville.
Residents and companies in the area are encouraged to help clean up parks, public areas, brooks, shopping malls, and many other locations in the community. As part of the day, people will be clearing some of the storm drains where debris from roof gutters has collected.
Families will also be encouraged to assist with Arbor Day tree planting, with two trees being planted in to replace a pair lost in the past hurricane. The trees have been donated by the Somerset Garden Club.
There will also be rain barrels available for sale, with the New Jersey Water Supply Authority offering a $200 discount on the purchase of a barrel. Eligibility requirements are available online.
The Annual Earth Day Clean-up will be occurring on Saturday, April 26, starting at 9:00 am at the Somerville High School Parking Lot.
