Richard Marx’s 30-year career was immediately successful. His 1987 self-titled debut album rose to the #8 spot on the charts. The album included four singles that went to the Top 5, including “Hold onto the Night” and “Don’t Mean Nothing.” The latter won him a nomination for a Grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance.
He followed this with 1989’s “Repeat Offender,” which earned quadruple-platinum status and spawned two singles that hit #1, “Right Here Waiting” and “Satisfied.” His next two albums, “Rush Street” and “Paid Vacation” both were certified platinum, giving Marx a historic string of hits, including putting his initial seven singles into Billboard’s Top 5.
Marx is a successful songwriter and the co-author of “Dance with My Father,” a Luther Vandross hit for which Marx won the 2004 Grammy for the Song of the Year. He has sold more than 30 million records worldwide and released 13 albums, with the latest, “Songwriter,” dropping this year.
A review says:
“If there is one performer you need to see . . . it’s Richard Marx… yes, there are bigger shows . . . but when . . . you need great songs, great memories, and an exceptional performance – Marx delivers all three in spades.”
Richard Marx will be at the Tupelo Music Hall in Derry, a short distance from Londonderry, on November 8. Organizers can use poster printing to advertise any occasion like this.
