Pop rocker and actor playing near Londonderry

An artist with an extensive résumé that includes singing, songwriting, writing for television, acting, and producing is coming to the Tupelo Music Hall in Derry, a few miles from Londonderry.

Shaun Cassidy comes from a showbusiness family. He is the son of Jack Cassidy and Shirley Jones, and David Cassidy is his half-brother. He began his career as a singer, releasing his first album, which was self-titled, in 1977. The album was rated multi-Platinum, and the single “Da Doo Ron Ron” was No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Cassidy was nominated for the Grammy for Best New Artist in 1978.

He appeared on television in the 1970s, but during the 1980s and 1990s, Cassidy concentrated on stage work, appearing in the West End, in Los Angeles, and on Broadway. He and his half-brother David appeared together in “Blood Brothers,” which ran for more than a year on Broadway.

Cassidy has also created, produced, and written for, several television series. His credits include “Roar,” “American Gothic,” and “New Amsterdam,” which ran for five years on NBC/Netflix.

His upcoming show includes both storytelling and music. A review says:

"We haven't seen this man, this entertainer, in live concert for four decades . . . The voice is still powerful, still full of emotion, texture, color, and technique.”

Shaun Cassidy and his tour “The Road to Us” will be in the area on Thursday, September 18. Colorful Posters that organizers can find at Print shops are often used to advertise events like this.
