Concerts on the Common continue in Londonderry

Summer brings music to the outdoors with performances on the town green.

The Londonderry Arts Council is the organizer of the Concerts on the Common, which continue with two more shows.

First up are the Delta Generators, a fan favorite who are returning for the eighth year. The group began as a side project of Rick and Charlie O’Neal, who were once members of Benjamin Orr’s band; Orr formerly sang and played bass with The Cars. The brothers occasionally worked separately with other bands, but always came back together. Since Charlie had always been a Blues guitar fan, he jumped at the chance to take part in a Blues project. He and Rick then joined up with Brian Templeton, and the Delta Generators were born.

Later in the month, Studio Two returns for their fifth appearance. The band has been voted “New England’s Best Beatles Tribute Band.” The band does more than play Beatles’ hits, they recreate the 1960’s magic embodied by the English supergroup who changed pop music. Studio Two focuses on the songs from the “touring years,” recreating the look of the Beatles, and playing vintage instruments, taking audiences back to the years before Sgt. Pepper.

The Delta Generators will be on stage on August 5, and Studio Two appears August 12. In the weather is inclement, the concert will move indoors to the cafeteria in the Londonderry High School. Performances like these are enhanced when organizers use poster printing to create advertising announcing them.
