Major award given to town in Youngsville area

A 2025 National Main Street Accreditation has been given to Wake Forest.

News of such recognition can be spread throughout a town and neighboring communities with poster printing.

This makes it part of an elite group of communities dedicated to keeping their downtowns economically prosperous and vibrant. It is one of 821 towns in the United States that has earned this recognition for its commitment to economic development and community revitalization following the Main Street Approach. This may be of interest to the town of nearby Youngsville.

The program of Main Street America looks to identify towns that strive to breathe new life into their storefronts and streets. Being accredited is a mark of distinction and demonstrates that a town pursues strategies of growth that enhance and respect their historical character. President and CEO of Main Street America, Erin Barnes, said that:
“Main Street America is proud to recognize this year's 821 Accredited Main Street America programs for their commitment to building strong and vibrant communities.”

Assessments conducted by the North Carolina Main Street and Rural Planning Center along with Main Street America are used to evaluate towns for this designation. There are not only baseline requirements that need to be met, but towns also need to exhibit exceptional performance in areas such as diversified funding, inclusive leadership, community commitment, strategic programming, and development based on preservation.
