Students in the state of North Carolina with family incomes of less than $200,000 per year will be able to attend Wake Forest University at no cost. This initiative will begin for those admitted in the fall of next year and may be of interest to undergraduates in nearby Youngsville.
Financial aid will cover the cost of basic living expenses in addition to tuition for those whose annual family income is less than $100,000. Those whose annual family income is between $200,000 and $300,000 will be able to receive financial aid that will cover 50 percent of the school’s tuition.
Such new programs can benefit from brochure printing to provide more detailed information about the application process and awarding of funds.
The initiative is called the North Carolina Gateway to Wake Forest University and is designed to create more opportunities for high achieving and talented students in the state to attend the university regardless of their family income.
Susan R. Wente, president of Wake Forest University, said this initiative demonstrates the commitment of the university to students from North Carolina. She added that the message is that Wake Forest is within the reach of those students and families who may not have considered the university due to cost.
Eric Maguire, Vice President for Enrollment, said that the university wants to demonstrate to families in North Carolina that the university is affordable and to ensure that attending the university is a possibility.
