In the past, Bradley Creek has been troubled by contamination issues resulting from rainwater run-off washing pollutants into it. The permeable pavers used by Mad Mole Brewing will soak up the first rainwater runoff, absorbing it and returning it to the ground, while other parking lots redirect the first water, which contains the highest concentration of pollutants to the waterways.
Organizations wishing to spread the message of environmental responsibility and sustainability can turn to flyer printing services to inform the public.
Mad Mole Brewing’s Operations Manager Dano Ferons explained the company’s newest efforts of prioritizing sustainability saying:
“Bradley Creek is a heavily impacted waterway, and so by capturing that first inch of rain, we’re gonna reduce the runoff and the waste from our parking lot.”
Funding for Mad Mole’s project came through a NCDEQ grant and was made possible through a partnership with the North Carolina Coastal Federation, the City of Wilmington and the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.
Mad Mole Brewing is no stranger to sustainability. It has participated in a green initiative since 2020, the results of which have helped redirect thousands of pounds of waste over the last five years away from landfills and into recycling programs.
