Travel and Leisure magazine recently published its list of the nation’s best year-round beach towns and Wilmington, which is known for its coastal lifestyle as well as its beaches was near the top of the list.
Among the reasons Wilmington and nearby Wrightsville Beach ranked high on the list, sharing third place, is due to each having more to offer than just swimming and sunbathing. Summer is the peak season; however, the rest of the year, when accommodations are less expensive the city also offer lots of fun things to do.
Hotels in conjunction with local chambers of commerce often make available information about attractions and events in the area with the help of local brochure printing services.
In its ranking of Wilmington, Travel and Leisure emphasized the city’s downtown area, historic and walkable streets, and its well-developed food scene. Additionally, Wilmington offers a diverse assortment of festivals and parades scattered out through the year including the St. Patrick’s Day parade, the Azalea Festival and the city’s Christmas parade. Plus, a visit to Wilmington puts the traveler in proximity to nearby Wrightsville Beach and a number of other locations within an hour’s drive.
Ahead of Wilmington on the list of best year-round beach towns were South Carolina’s Hilton Head Island in first place followed by Malibu California. La Jolla, California and Florida’s Seaside rounded out the top five.
