Wilmington cinema demolition makes way for housing complex
An eight-building housing development will replace the AMC Classic 16 cinema structure.
The theater, located at 111 Cinema Drive in Wilmington, closed its doors in October 2023 and a little over a year later a formal site plan application was submitted for what was called the Cinema Drive project. Last month demolition of the site began with debris cleanup underway toward the last of October. Permitting and review hurdles are in the rear-view mirror, and the project has been released for construction on April 22.
According to city property records:
Plans are for the 8.58-acre site to have one four-story building as well as seven three-story buildings. The largest building will include commercial space amounting to 10,000 square feet. Visions for the property include 147 multi-family housing units. The apartments would be divvied up into 97 four-bedroom apartments, 12 three-bedroom units and 37 two-bedroom apartments as well as one model unit.
Brochure printing services can make it easier for apartment complexes to lease their units in a timely manner.
Plans for the site also include: a trash compactor space, a maintenance building, an 8,400-square-foot amenity area, room for 438 vehicles with 8 of the spaces equipped for EV charging, and 38 bicycle parking spaces.
