The facility will be producing an innovative type of MgO panels for floor, subfloor, and wall application using proprietary manufacturing processes and equipment. These types of panels have only been accessible in the United States via importation from China, which has made acceptance of MgO panels for state and federal government projects difficult to come by.
The factory follows two successful years of modeling at US MgO’s laboratory. An even larger facility than the Wilmington one is planned for Leland, North Carolina with its groundbreaking on the horizon.
US MgO General Manager Ryan Miller explained:
“Over the past 15 years, we’ve heard from customers that domestic sourcing and production of MgO panels is needed for this product category to replace commodity products such as wood and gypsum. We’re glad to be first. Our new Innovation MgO sheathing panels outperform traditional fiberglass mat gypsum-based panels, wood panels, and other MgO panels.”
Printing services can be instrumental in introducing new products to those who would be most inclined to purchase them.
Shipping to projects across the U.S. in late 2024 has been conducted from inventory created in its laboratory’s prototype manufacturing facility. Newly “minted” North Carolina-made panels will become available for shipping in late 2024.
Benefits provided by these panels include moisture resistance, weatherability, fire resistance, and structural strength.
