Once again Wilmington has placed high on a list of best places, this time as one of the most scenic river towns of the Southeast U.S.
On a list compiled by Home Stratosphere, a website highlighting interior design, the city was rated No. 4 among river towns that it has deemed the most scenic in the region. The Port City was referenced on the list as a ‘coastal river beauty’ and trailed Savannah, Georgia which took the top post, second place Asheville, North Carolina, and third place Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Earlier this year Wilmington took first place on Southern Living’s “Best Cities on the Rise” list in the South and then was named one of seven North Carolina locations that are perfect for a vacation but not good for retirement relocation.
Lists such as these provide an opportunity for communities to work with Print shops to promote their strengths while quietly working on improving any weaknesses that may have revealed.
The article detailing the cities on the list points to Wilmington’s position on the Cape Fear River and its historic downtown area with a Riverwalk that includes restaurants, shops and galleries. Also mentioned was Bellamy Mansion Museum with its display of antebellum architecture plus its preserved slave quarters.
The ideal blend of historic and coastal appeal continues to draw people to Wilmington both to visit and live; the cost of three- and four-bedroom homes are on average $350,000 to $500,000.
