In 2018 Wilmington began a terminal expansion project projected to cost $86 million with its final phase scheduled for an early 2022 completion.
Large facilities, including those in the transportation industry find multiple uses for printing services.
The FFA has issued a press release saying it awarded grants in the amount of $431.8 to airports across the country to fund project that increase access, safety and sustainability for Americans traveling. Sixty airports in 31 states were recipients of that money with Wilmington International Airport receiving $348, 572.
In the FFA’s release Pete Buttigieg, the U.S. Secretary of Transportation was quoted as saying:
“To get passengers where they need to be safely and sustainably, we must make ongoing investments in our aviation system."
The grants came from the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program which has disbursed approximately $3.2 billion in 2021 to airports throughout the nation. Per the American Rescue Plan Act, local government will not be forced to provide matching funds to receive these grants.
According to Ailevon Pacific Aviation Consulting, an air service development firm, in the midst of the pandemic Wilmington International Airport has outpaced other U.S. airports. The firm elaborated saying that Wilmington Airport’s seat capacity between April 2020 and August of this year was greater than neighboring airports.
