The new professional baseball team in Gastonia now has a name – the Gastonia Honey Hunters.
The name was selected as there is a honey badger on the team’s Logo Design, and the honey badger is known for its bravery. The owner of the team, Brandon Bellamy, said that the city of Gastonia is resilient, determined, and fearless, attributes much like those of the honey badger. Bellamy said that he feels these are attributes that make the city a place with a great promise and great people.
The team is scheduled to begin playing later this spring, potentially as soon as mid-May as long as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted in the state by then. The team is working with the office of the governor to get fans safely back into the stadium as soon as possible.
David Martin, Chief Operating Office of the Honey Badgers, said that the team is working to ensure that employees and the athletes, as well as the fans, will be safe with potentially a limited capacity in the FUSE ballpark, which is where the team will be playing. Now that it has a name, the team needs to hire a manager and create a roster before the season begins.
The Honey Hunters will play in the Atlantic League, which comprises teams in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New York.Get a Free Quote for Logo Design
