Dance Academy opens up for Gastonias disabled community

Parents of special needs children in Gastonia often find they have to give up certain dreams regarding their children. For some parents, one of these dreams may be attending their son or daughter’s dance recital. Thanks to the upcoming DanceAbilities Academy, however, this dream doesn't have to be lost.

DanceAbilities founder Tess Walters is the mother of two children with autism, as well as being a trained dancer. Earlier this month, she held a carnival to raise money for the studio, which will hold free dance classes for disabled persons of all ages and regardless of disability. She said:

"Music wakes up things in your brain, and dance moves your body and moves those muscles. And it's really been shown with a lot of research to open all kinds of communication with children with autism or adults with cerebral palsy.”

Sometimes, the advertisement for a free service can be trickier to create than those that charge a fee. The public has become wary of those who promise something for nothing, and often expect there to be a hidden loophole. A savvy Print company can create a flyer or poster that can help alleviate those suspicions.

The DanceAbilities Academy will hold an open house on June 28th from 1pm to 3pm at 1385 E. Garrison Blvd. for anyone interested in learning more. Classes are scheduled to begin in July.
