Phoenix Fest takes over Fayetteville Street.

Phoenix Fest is a yearly get-together that celebrates the culture and business of the Hayti Community.

The Hayti community is one of the oldest African American communities in North Carolina. While celebrating this legacy, Phoenix Fest has gained a reputation for being one of the most vibrant street festival in Durham. Fayetteville Street will be blocked from traffic and turned into a lively bazaar with plenty of culture-based food, music all day, and innovative vendor displays. Vendors can use banner printing to make their stands more attractive at such events.

The festival lasts all day. It will feature musical talent from all over North Carolina playing a combination of jazz, hip-hop, R&B, gospel, blues and reggae. Merchandise and food vendors will be providing cultural dishes and souvenirs to celebrate the Hayti community’s business and artistic culture. Attendees are advised to bring their lawn chairs and umbrellas so that they can get comfortable and hopefully enjoy the North Carolina sunshine.

Phoenix Fest is scheduled for October 1 on Fayetteville Street in Durham from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. The Food Truck Rodeo and the African Vendor Market both start at 11:00 am. Music will be playing all through the event. Attendance is free and the festival is suitable for the whole family.
