Durham Museum explores culinary science

An after-hours event at the Durham Museum of Life and Science allows adults to learn all about the latest in food science while enjoying a drink or two in a

relaxing environment.

The Science of Eats is a program being held for one evening only at the Durham Museum of Life and Science. This event is one of five after-hour events that are held each year just for the 21 and older crowd. Other subjects for these adult-only programs include wine, cocktails, beer and sour foods. Those attending these events as well as those visiting during the museum’s regular hours should be on the lookout for Brochures detailing the upcoming after-hour events as well as other programs.

While learning about food science, those in attendance will have the opportunity to sample a variety of selections from local food vendors. An outreach group, from the University of North Carolina Department of Psychology, Neural Connections will provide inquiry-based experiments rather than dry facts and figures to attendees.

Although tickets for the Science of Eats are sold out, combo tickets that provide admission to both the Science of Eats as well as a VIP event earlier in the evening may still be available. The VIP event features “A Chef’s Life” Vivian Howard of Kinston. Tomorrow, June 2, Meet the Chef is 5-6:30 pm and the Science of Eats is from 6:30 – 10 pm. Combo ticket are $150 and benefit the museum.
