Olivette officials have said the Old Bonhomme Road project could be complete by mid-November, if the weather cooperates.

As part of the effort, officials closed the eastbound lane between Olive and Dielman on August 24. Traffic was sent one-way west from Dielman to Olive, while crews start working on Old Bonhomme’s south side.

Officials have asked residents to take note of several issues with regard to the construction. First, property owners are asked to inventory any landscape lighting, dog fences, or sprinklers near the project, and arrange to have the item moved or marked. They are also asked to cut back any trees or shrubs that are encroaching on the sidewalk.

In mid-September, the process of milling (taking off the top layer of asphalt) is expected to start. There will be several trucks and other equipment in the area, and officials warn of traffic congestion. Paving should also start after the milling is complete, and could take up to six days per section to finish.

Officials also ask people to drive cautiously and slowly, and to watch children carefully to keep them away from heavy equipment, though everyone is welcome to watch the work from a distance. Regular trash, yard waste, and recycling pickups will continue normally.
