Choosing to use native plants brings many benefits to the home horticulturist, and thanks to the efforts of a local organization, it will be easy for Olivette gardeners to get started.
Olivette in Bloom works year-round to help “green” the community, and its Native Plant Sale will fund its work. It will be open for two hours on its scheduled date, and those who arrive early will get the best choice.
The sale, which has been held for more than two decades, will include an assortment of perennials, and for the first time there will also be bare root nursery stock to pick from. These will be sourced from Partners for Native Landscaping, and they can be counted on to look great and provide food, shelter and other benefits that may attract wildlife. There will be Master Gardeners in attendance, and they will be happy to answer questions and aid in plant selection.
Organizers that plan annual events may work with a strict budget, and a banner printing company can lend a helping hand. It can supply a variety of pop-up Banners, signage, and other materials that are suitable for use over and over.
The annual Native Plant Sale will help keep Olivette beautiful next Saturday, April 25th. The public can stop by starting at 9:00 am. The location is Five Oaks on Warson, 1200 North Warson Road.
