For the third year in a row, Olivette residents are invited to participate in the Turkey Trot, a fundraiser on behalf of the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry.
The course is laid out in a loop that starts and ends at Stacy Park. Runners race down Old Bonhomme Road, and then change over to an asphalt trail. This year, organizers have added chip timing to the event.
Over the life of the event, the number of runners has more than doubled, and organizers are looking forward to another great year. Among the goodies promised to participants are long-sleeved T-shirts, giveaways, refreshments, and entertainment. People with strollers and dogs on leads are welcome, but organizers request they go to the back of the group. Last year, the even raised more than $6,400.
The 5K race takes place on Thanksgiving Day, November 24. The race begins at 8:00 am on Thanksgiving Day, November 24th, at Stacy Park on Old Bonhomme Road in Olivette. Entrance fees for those 18 and younger are $15 until the 24th, and $25 for those 19 and older. Late registration is available November 22nd and 23rm, from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm, at Olivette City Hall. Those who wish to register on the day of the race may do so from 6:45 am until 7:45 am at Stacy Park.
