Each year the Missouri Chapter of the National Pancreas Foundation has a fundraiser. This year's event, known as “Strike Out Pancreatic Disease”, will be held in Olivette, at the Olivette Lanes.
According to a recent article, the event is suitable for people of all ages, and includes a silent auction, a raffle, and bowling, of course. People are encouraged to participate both as individuals and in teams. In fact, the Foundation has announced that it will have teams spread throughout the bowling alley, where they will be “bowling for research dollars”. If someone wants to participate but is not a member of a team, the Foundation will find a place for that individual.
The fundraiser would not be possible without a number of sponsors and donors. Among these are AMC Theaters, Pei-Wei Asian Diner, The Pasta House Company, and the baseball team St. Louis Cardinals.
As an important component of the digestive system, the pancreas produces hormones and enzymes that assist in the further breakdown of food after it has passed through the stomach. The pancreas also produces insulin, a hormone that helps regulate the level of sugar in the body.
The event will take place on October 18, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Attendees will be asked for a $25 donation, which will cover the cost of bowling, bowling shoes, prizes, and food.
