Olivette’s Harvest Festival and Boo Bash, combining two popular fall celebrations into one, is set to return this October.
The event is a merger of the traditional fall harvest festival with spooky Halloween-inspired activities. This year’s events will include a free outdoor showing of the 1993 cult classic Hocus Pocus starring Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker as three witches. Face painting and hayrides will be available. There will be a “haunted walk” that aims to transform a peaceful park into a spooky attraction. Participants are encouraged to dress in costume, with awards given to the most impressive.
There will also be trucks and stands providing food and drinks. Circus Kaput and 2 Girls 4 Wheels will provide family-friendly live entertainment. The Harvest Festival/Boo Bash combination is a long-running event in Olivette, and past editions have featured attractions like games, tractor rides, pickling, and a petting zoo. Events like this are often put on in small towns or cities to help celebrate the changing of the seasons and bring a community together, typically using methods such as colorful signage and banner printing to attract curious onlookers.
The 2021 edition of the Harvest Festival and Boo Bash will take place on the evening of October 15 at Stacy Park. The movie screening will start at 7:45 pm or around sunset.
