For the 31st year, the summer celebration known as Parties in the Park in Downtown Clayton is ready to kick off.
The parties are an outdoor happy hour and a St. Louis original, as well as being the area’s longest-running affair of this type. The parties take place on the second Wednesday of every month from May to September. and are held on Central between Maryland Avenue and Forsyth Boulevard in Clayton, which is about four miles from Olivette.
Clayton Chamber of Commerce executive director Ellen Gale said the response to relocating the parties to Central has won universal approval, with restaurants and businesses registering an uptick in business, and people attending the parties having a wonderful time.
The main draw for the parties is live music, and the lineup is now confirmed. Radiogram will appear on May 14, Odds Lane follow this up on June 11; Super Majik Robots appear on July 9; the VCRs are onstage on August 13; and on September 10 the season ends with Griffin and the Gargoyles.
The parties begin at 5:00 pm and end at 8.30 pm on each scheduled day, and are free for everyone to enjoy.
The Chamber of Commerce could work with a flyer printing company to create handouts to be distributed each evening, giving a profile of the acts involved.
