Olivette residents find lots to do in St. Louis
According to the website ExploreStLouis.com, administered by the city's Convention & Visitors Commission, there are plenty of things families can do together not far from Olivette, and many of them are free.
The commission asked students at the Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School (MICDS) to devise a tour, designed by them, that would answer the question ‘Why should kids come to St. Louis?’ The students worked in small groups to come up with a list of places to go that would allow children to participate in creative, informative, and entertaining activities while at the site.
The final list included many well-known St. Louis landmarks, but perhaps less well-known were the activities offered at each location. One group suggested Sheldon Hall Concert Hall, along with its ballroom and art galleries, at which kids can participate in musical and arts activities. A second team nominated the St. Louis Science Center, where kids can make ice cream, while a third group came up with a ghost-hunting outing at Powell Hall, the home of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. In all, the MICDS students named 10 places for kids and their families to visit this summer, and these can be viewed on the website
Olivette officials might consider working with a flyer printing company to do a mailer for residents, listing these suggestions in the nearby city.
