Olivette puts out Request for Proposals

Olivette wants to redevelop the site of its old City Hall, along with additional property to the west. At a meeting of the city council recently, members approved releasing a Request for Proposals (RFP), looking for developers for the project.

The bidders must be qualified real estate developers. They will be submitting proposals for an area known as the City Center Redevelopment Area. The parcel is between Tower Hills Court and Friese Drive, on Olive Boulevard's north side. The total land area to be developed is 2.9 acres, which comprises three parcels.

In the Olivette Strategic Plan put forth in 2006, city officials explained that the aim of redeveloping this area was to create a town center featuring mixed-use projects and amenities for community members to enjoy. The preferred uses for the area, as described in the current RFP, are multifamily housing, including housing for seniors; retail spaces; and delis, bakeries, wine bars, or restaurants.

The project also needs to include a public plaza to be a true community space. When projects like this near completion, developers can use brochure printing to explain their amenities to prospective tenants.

The period for submitting the proposals started December 23 and ends February 22, at 2:00 pm. The contact person for the project is the Olivette city manager, Barbara Sondag, who can be reached at (314) 983-5200, or 1140 Dielman Road, Olivette, MO 63132.
