Halloween is seeing communities get together to organize parties as an alternative to trick-or-treating on the streets. According to an October 10, 2014 news item, that is precisely what is happening in Olivette.
Olivette's Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a yearly Halloween party it calls the ‘Annual Halloween Boo Bash’. The evening will start off with a pizza dinner, followed by a costume contest. After the contest, attendees will be free to play games, have their portraits painted by a caricature artist, and enjoy the work of a face painter. If they have enough courage, they can visit the haunted house. In addition, a bag of candy will be given to every child who attends, ensuring that the sweet treats synonymous with the occasion are present.
Party organizers could work with a banner printing company to create scary Banners with Halloween themes, such as witches, black cats, ghosts, and ghouls, to hang throughout the venue. A banner, loosely hung so it flaps in the wind, would be perfect in the haunted house.
The family-friendly Boo Bash will be held on October 25, this Saturday, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at the Olivette Community Center. Admission is $4 for children 13 and younger, while adults are $6.
