The holidays are approaching, and Olivette is getting ready by opening registration for the fourth Olivette Turkey Trot.
Since this event, a family-friendly 5K run/walk, began, the number of participants has more than tripled. The race course is a loop that starts and ends at Stacey Park. Participants will run on an asphalt trail, as well as through residential neighborhoods.
All the funds raised by the Turkey Trot go to the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry, which serves more than 6,500 people monthly. During the period from 2014 to 2016, the Turkey Trot raised over $16,500 for the pantry. The city of Olivette is also a sponsor of the pantry
Early registration is open now through November 7, 2017. The fee is $20 for adults over 19 years of age, and $12 for children. Late registration, which goes all the way through race day, is $25 and $15.
The race day schedule is as follows: participants can pick up their packets between 7 and 7.45 am; walk-up registration will be conducted at the same time. The race starts promptly at 8 am, with awards and prizes distributed at 9.05 am.
The race itself takes place on Thanksgiving Day, which this year is on November 23, 2017.
