It will soon be October, which means Halloween is on the way, along with the rest of the holidays. For residents of the Olivette area, one of the season's earliest attractions is ready to go: the BandTogether's Halloween concert.
This year, BandTogether will play the music that accompanies some of the stories that have been handed down for years. Often, the tales are scary, but sometimes that adds to the fun apect.
The program will feature music that reminds listeners of stories like ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘The Legend of Sleepy Hollow’, ‘Jekyll and Hyde’, ‘The Hobbit’, ‘Dracula’, and many others. The orchestra will be under the direction of Jeff Girard and Gary Reynolds, and admission is free.
BandTogether was formed in 1997, with the idea of giving the 10 founding members a way to participate in that year's Pride Parade. Since then, the group has grown to over 100 performers and musicians who have been organized into three ensembles: the Concert Band, Marching Band, and Color Guard.
The Halloween concert is set for Saturday, October 14, at 560 Music Center, beginning at 8:00 pm. The center is on Trinity Avenue in University City, about three miles from Olivette.
