A walk raising money to support cancer patients will be returning to Creve Couer Lake, looking to attract walkers from nearby areas like St. Louis and Olivette.
The event, called Steps for Hopes, challenges participants to walk or run a pre-set distance while completing a donation to the Cancer Support Community of Greater St. Louis. There are suggested routes of 1 mile and 3.7 miles that will take runners around Creve Couer Lake. This year’s run also includes a virtual option to allow participants to walk or run at a location of their own choice, which could include indoors on a treadmill or stairs. The in-person run will use staggered start times to help maintain social distancing.
Money raised by Steps for Hope will go to the Cancer Support Community, which provides emotional and psychological support to people affected by cancer. The fundraiser will also include a raffle and drawings for Visa gift cards for those who donate extra. Runs like these, often advertised through promotional products and word of mouth, can help motivate people to get in shape, as well as do good. The organizers have released a training regimen to help participants prepare for the race.
The 23rd annual Steps for Hope Walk will take place on May 1 at Creve Couer Park, or at a “virtual” location of participants’ choice.
