The city of St. Louis will host a live performance this weekend, no doubt attracting people from nearby Olivette.
The event, titled Blues on the Block, will feature renowned trumpet-player Kasimu Taylor. Taylor will play alongside the National Blues Museum Jam Band. The group, which stems from public jam sessions put on by the museum, will offer backing instrumentals to the signature sounds of the trumpeter.
The event’s headliner, Kasimu Taylor, nearly three decades of experience playing alongside others, dating back to his duo at 19 years old with mentor Chad Evans. He has since expanded his portfolio to create his own band, the Kasimu-tet.
For this event, the organizers advise attendees that no outside drinks will be permitted. Patrons are welcome to bring snacks and chairs so they can be comfortable as they enjoy the show, although chairs are also available for rent at the venue. There will also be an invitation to fellow musicians from the audience to join the performance, provided that they bring their own instruments.
