Olivette residents who are fans of the addictive television drama Downton Abbey, and perhaps even those who have never seen the show, have a fun evening ahead.
Wendy Wax, the bestselling author of more than 10 Books, will soon be in St. Louis for an event that will no doubt focus on her latest publication.
Her latest book is a novel entitled ‘While We Were Watching Downton Abbey’, which centers on a group of television viewers. In the story, the concierge of a historic apartment building in Atlanta, called The Alexander, invites some of the building’s residents to watch Downton Abbey with him each week. Four of the building’s tenants take him up on his offer. Despite being very different from one another, the viewers begin to connect with the program, and in so doing, also begin to bond with one another.
Penguin Publishers have named the book a ‘Read Pink’ selection, referring to the pink ribbons used to designate the fight against breast cancer. A portion of the book sales at the event will be donated to research on breast cancer.
Event organizers could work with a poster printing company to help announce the event, which is slated for the Jewish Community Center in St. Louis, in the Staenberg Arts and Education Building, at 2 Millstone Campus Drive.
