St. Paul crafting workshop to teach dye techniques
This August, Mississippi Market Co-Op will present the In Person at East 7th: Indigo Dye with Textile Center for anyone in St. Paul interested in learning how to make indigo dye from their own gardens.
Mississippi Market Co-Op is a community-owned grocery store with the mission to make a difference in the surrounding neighborhoods. Offering a space to find healthy food, the co-op also works to empower diverse communities and provide an inclusive atmosphere. The co-op often partners with other organizations and nonprofits to offer enriching classes and workshops.
During the August class, participants will learn how to use natural indigo dye to create unique designs. Expert textile artists from the Textile Center will guide students step by step through the dyeing process. Attendees will also learn how to make their own dye out of indigo plants foraged from their own gardens. All materials will be provided, although attendees are welcome to bring foraged plant materials from home as well.
Art workshops are often advertised in the community through flyer distribution in high-traffic areas. Organizers can prepare these materials in bulk by utilizing local flyer printing services.
The dye workshop will take place on Saturday, August 31 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. It will be held at the Mississippi Market Co-op, located at 740 7th Street East.
