Fair draws internationally known music stars

The Minnesota State Fair is returning to St. Paul for 12 days at the end of August.

The fair is like many that are held in the United States every summer and fall. There will be animal exhibits, carnival rides, and games, vendors, and contests in creative activities such as canning, baking, handicrafts, and needlework.

The Grandstand is set to feature concerts from some of the country's most famous musicians, including Aretha Franklin, Toby Keith, The Four Tops, Kid Rock, and Linkin Park. There will also be free concerts at the coliseum featuring local performers and several talent contests.

The Arts A'Fair will feature pop up showcases in improv theater, puppetry, storytelling, and dance. Other activities include the Extreme Canines Stunt Dog Show, the Eco Experience, and performances by the Bull Riders of America. Guests can also tour the Minnesota State Fair History and Heritage Center or find some unique items at the West End market.

St. Paul poster printing companies may have been approached to provide this year's event poster, which will be displayed all over the city and in surrounding areas.

The Minnesota State Fair is being held at the Fairgrounds from August 21st until September 1st. Admission is $13 for adults and $11 for children and seniors; ride and game tickets are $15 for 25. Call 651-288-4400 for more information.
