Staff, volunteers and sponsors associated with the Ronald McDonald House recently met up at the International Event Center to celebrate another successful year, interact with new contributors, and hand out Corporate Gifts and Business Cards.
The Ronald McDonald House in Rochester is an establishment that has been helping sick children and their families for the past 50 years. Perhaps the best news to come out of the event was that the home is ready to reopen.
Expansion plans for the Ronald McDonald House were announced last year. They broke ground in May 2018 and after a year of hard work, the new site is almost ready for business.
The remodeled home now has double the capacity it had before, so more than 70 families can now be hosted there. The increased capacity means that there is a higher need for supplies and locals are encouraged to donate anything that they can. In particular need are kitchen utensils, cooking supplies and, towels. Anybody who wishes to make a donation can drop them off at the Ronald McDonald House in person.
Volunteers are also in demand. Peggy Elliot, the House’s Executive Director, pointed out that they would not have been able to provide such quality services without the help of the 300 volunteers they already have. People who cannot volunteer can help out in a number of other ways. More information is available at the Ronald McDonald House website.
The doors will officially reopen on May 13.
