Rochester to host outdoor event

A family-friendly activity will be taking place at an outdoor venue in Rochester in mid-July.

The Quarry Hill Run Wild 5K Trail Run And 1K Wild Child Dash is an event where hikers and runners across a wide age range are able to participate in a trek that takes them along a route of beautiful scenery, including a prairie, forest, and hill. The trail includes an incline, but it is overall something that all skill levels can accomplish. The dash is limited to only 200 kids, with the course going through the forest. This run will raise funds for The Friends of Quarry Hill Nature Center Scholarship Fund.

Admission at the time of writing costs $30 for adults, and $22 for younger participants when it comes to the 5K. The 1K currently costs $12. Pricing for the former run will cost $27 and $35 starting on July 1, with the latter run only increasing the day before the event to $15. The starting line is located about 10 minutes from where the parking is. A water area will be placed along the course of the 5K.

Children will be given a bandana that is customized for them, as well as the ability to put their own graphic design on the medal they receive.

Pickup of the racing materials will take place on July 15 at Quarry Hill Nature Center from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, as well as from 7:00am to 9:00am on the day of the event. The races will kick off between 8:30am and 9:20am on July 16 at Quarry Hill Park. Online registration is possible through the Race Roster website.
