Sure to be of interest to Print shops and those with a love of literature is the Bookworm Walk for children’s Books in Rochester, Minnesota. Running throughout the summer, the event is supported by the Rochester MN Mom’s Blog and the Rochester Downtown Alliance.
Only in its second year, the walk features a short 10-minute walk through pages of children’s book stacked in flower planters. The purpose of the event is to guide parents and caregivers in helping their children to sharpen their reading skills. The event is also designed to motivate very young children to want to learn to read.
The route begins at the Rochester Public Library, which is across from the Rochester Civic Center. The walk goes through Stationery stops at the Zumbro Riverwalk and then it ends at the waterfall across from the Rochester Government Center. The 2018 Bookworm Walk features four children’s Books: ‘Honk, Honk, Goose!’ by Sayer and Lee, ‘The Tale of Pale Male’ by Jenette Winter, ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ by Roxen and Roseberry, and ‘I’m a Shark’ by Bob Shea.
The Bookworm Walk got underway on May 21 and continues until August 31. It is sponsored by and takes place at the Rochester Public Library, and is free of charge. Parents and caregivers can download the brochure and map through Downtown Rochester’s webpage.
