Rochester is getting ready for its annual Rochesterfest coming in various venues around town for nine days toward the end of June.
Activities that will be held every day will include fun experiences in the Park and Rec Trailer, craft stations, climbing wall, bounce house, scavenger hunt, escape challenge, and Once upon a Playhouse. Craft vendors will also be selling their original handmade items, and the Field of Flags will be on display.
Tuesday will be Unity Day. Mayor Kim Norton will open the festival at 11:00 am. Bands will include The Lonely Knees, Gary Foiland, the Rochester Community Band, and Salsa Del Soul. There will be a celebrity ice cream eating contest, a story telling circle, interactive workshops, games and face painting for the children and Salsa dance lessons in the park.
Wednesday will be Family Fun Day with fitness, kids dance party, tag, Sports night, soft ball game, and KAAL Weather Lab. Thursday's theme will be Community Appreciation Day which will include a farmer's market, volunteer recognition, service club luncheon, laser tag, bingo, patriotic music, and a Chamber Business After Hours (bring Business Cards).
Saturday will be Party in the Park with a dachshund dash, walk/run fundraiser, puzzle contest, grand parade (at 2:00 pm), outdoor exploration, bubble dance party, Bean Bag tournament and Dr. Suess readings.
Rochesterfest will be from June 22nd to the 30th with a musical line-up from June 25th through the 29th in Soldiers Field.
