While wild geese may be lovely and interesting to look at, they can also be messy and even aggressive. There are ways to control their population without causing harm to the birds, and a New Brighton workshop will share them with local property owners.
During the Goose Management presentation, the registrants will be equipped with information that they can use to become good wildlife stewards. They will discover how they can tell if a flock of geese stays in their area all year round, or is just passing through on its way north or south, and from there, the group will discuss their life cycle as well as a variety of non-lethal methods to keep their population in check.
The facilitator will review methods such as egg oiling (addling) which a property owner can use to keep geese away. The ideas shared will be based upon the best practices of both the Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department, and a brochure printing professional can prepare pamphlets and other materials for this sort of event that will make it possible for the attendees to continue to learn even after they have left for home.
March 10 will be the date for the Goose Management presentation, and it can be a learning experience that is helpful to anyone who call the community home. It will be on offer at the NBCC, and registration is now open for the evening.
