Many New Brighton music lovers will be going to one or more concerts in the Music Under Glass series currently playing on specially selected Sundays and Wednesdays until early February.
The series began with folk/Americana music on January 4 and will continue with Memphis blues tomorrow (January 11).
On Wednesday, January 14, Jack Knife and the Sharps will present rockabilly, country blues, surf, and swing. They will be followed the next Sunday, January 18 with Siam's Congo Roots and bluegrass accordion music on the following Wednesday. Katy Tessman & Sweet Lou, a mother and son duo, will blend blues, and Americana on Wednesday, January 28.
Blues and roots musician Annie Mack will take the stage on Sunday, February 1, and blues acoustic and slide guitarist Jeff Ray, along with a one-man rhythm section in Mikkel Beckmen, will end the series on Wednesday, February 4.
Music Under Glass will take place in the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory's tropical gardens, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm in St. Paul. Admission will be free, and wine and beer will be available for purchase. No seating is available in the Sunken Gardens, but guests may sit in other zoo areas where the music will be simulcast
