New Brighton symposium to bring sustainability into the garden

A symposium on sustainability has been scheduled for the New Brighton area this winter.

In almost any ecosystem, there is a complex web of plants, animals, fungi and other organisms that depend upon one another for survival, and when even one is affected, it can impact them all. Those who register for the “Where Have all the Fireflies Gone: Gardening in Challenging Times” conference will walk away with a better knowledge of what they can do as individual educators and gardeners to help create a sustainable world, bearing this in mind.

At least three speakers who are subject matter experts on the topic will be sharing their knowledge with the attendees, and they will offer tips and other ideas for creating sustainable landscapes that include wildlife in the equation.

The presentations that have been scheduled will put the spotlight on how gardeners can become partners with Mother Nature through measures such as encouraging beneficial insects to take up residence, ensuring there will be genetic diversity in plant breeding stock and also how to choose elements that will bring life to a garden.

Tickets are available now for the symposium, and they will be available until February 15. There are also a variety of volunteer opportunities, and a company that prepares customized Corporate Gifts will be able to supply volunteers, name tags, lanyards and other items.

This Upcoming Design With Nature Conference will be helping to create a better world on February 29. The venue for the day will be the University of St. Thomas’s St. Paul Campus.
