Grand Rapids hosts art and music festival

The Grand Rapids Public Library, in conjunction with the Grand Rapids African American Arts and Music Festival (GRAAAMF), will host its annual African-American Arts and Music Festival this September.

The festival is designed to showcase and celebrate African-Americans – those who have made an impact and a contribution to the creative industry through visual and performing arts.

It offers food, entertainment, and drinks in an atmosphere suited to the outdoors. Patrons are invited to come out and experience the vibrant ambiance of the city as they immerse themselves in African-American culture and art. The festival is open to individuals of all ages and is free for all to attend.

The festival is a part of a multi-series event holistically titled 'Music in the Parks,' where on select days in the summer, residents are invited to enjoy local music and participate in various activities. Each event features a different theme, and September's event will end the summer with its own 'Back2School' theme, which is scheduled to unfold in two parts.

The vendors and contributors featured at events such as these often use graphic design and other creative means of showcasing their work to festival attendees.

The event will be held at the Martin Luther King Jr. Park located at 900 Fuller Ave SE, 49506 on September 25. It begins at 6:00 pm and ends at 8:00 pm.
