Gilda’s LaughFest will take place in Grand Rapids this March to raise money and awareness of emotional health support for those suffering from cancer or grief relating to it.
The event was created by Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids, an organization that provides emotional health support services to children, families, and any individuals who find themselves facing cancer and the grief of losing a loved one from any illness. The festival is the first in the country to be a communitywide festival celebrating laughter as a healing mechanism and an essential part of emotional well-being. Gilda’s Club is supported entirely by charitable donations, so fundraisers like this are especially important to uphold its mission.
The festival features a range of comedic entertainment, including improv shows, stand-up sessions, and comedy showcases. There will be offerings such as the Cancer Survivors Showcase and the Clean Comedy Showcase, as well as activities like Night at the Museum and Kids Joke Time.
